Making the path to a mortgage clearer
A mortgage journey often begins long before a credit decision. Prospective customers must understand eligibility, provide the right information, and move through several stages of qualification and review. Internally staff must interpret policies and compliance documentation consistently while maintaining the controls expected of a regulated financial institution.
Housing Finance Bank engaged Otic to streamline this journey through their Credit Intelligence Platform, known as CIP. The completed solution combines a client-facing mortgage lead qualification capability with internal staff support for policy and compliance navigation.
The challenge
Mortgage origination involves significant information exchange between customers and bank teams. When early inquiries are handled manually, staff can spend substantial time determining whether a lead is ready to proceed and identifying which information is still required. Once a customer advances, employees must navigate the policies and compliance documents governing the mortgage process.
The bank needed a more structured entry point for prospective mortgage customers and faster internal access to approved procedural knowledge while preserving human review and the bank's formal lending controls.
The solution
We deployed the credit intelligence platform to support two connected user groups.
Client-facing mortgage qualification
The customer-facing capability guides prospective mortgage customers through an initial qualification journey. It helps structure early engagement so that relevant information can be captured consistently and the customer can be directed toward the appropriate next step. This capability does not issue final credit decisions. It strengthens the front end of the process, allowing qualified bank staff to retain responsibility for verification, assessment, approval, and customer advice.
Internal mortgage knowledge support
Internal agents help employees navigate approved policies and compliance documentation surrounding mortgage processing. Rather than searching across multiple documents, staff can obtain more direct access to the information required to support a customer or progress a case.
Together these capabilities connect customer acquisition with internal operational readiness. The result is a more coherent mortgage journey: better-structured leads enter the bank, and staff can respond with faster access to relevant institutional guidance.
The outcome
The completed solution created a digital foundation for shortening mortgage processing cycles and improving consistency in policy navigation. It reduced avoidable friction at the lead qualification stage and helped staff spend less time locating information across mortgage-related documentation.
